Residential

Dates for 2016:  November 2-4th

One of the highlights of Year 7 is our residential trip to Bude in November.  We ran it for the first time in 2015 and it proved a very popular adventure.  We aim to build our resilience, practise team work and get to know the rest of our year group.  Here are some of the students’ thoughts:

James

A lot of exciting events will happen in Year 7 at Plympton Academy.  One of the first is an adventure trip to Bude.  We took part in so many activities including surfing and canoeing.  My favourites were caving and high ropes.  In the evening there were football matches and teambuilding activities.  You have to go:  you won’t be disappointed!’

Abbie

‘We went to Bude in November.  We went because it got us to interact with people we didn’t know, it got us away from mobiles and PlayStation.  I didn’t think I would cope with that but I did!  In Bude we did all sorts of things like surfing, dragon boating, swimming and caving.  I even gave Karaoke a try!  Everyone who went was busy from the moment we got there to the moment we left.  It’s an experience.’

What our students thought…

  • ‘The trip has changed my views because I didn’t think I could go caving, but I  did’
  • ‘I felt challenged and out of my comfort zone’
  • ‘Fun, exciting, exhausting, amazing, excellent, thrilling and cool!’
  • ‘I found my confidence and kept going’
