There are many pathways through Sixth Form Education at Plympton Academy, all of which provide a wide range of choice and opportunity.
Generally students will choose a programme of either: Advanced Level Study, Additional Level 3 Courses, a combination of these two types of course or a Vocational course. The choice is dependent on the student’s likely GCSE grades and their career aspirations. However, there is flexibility in the system which enables students to mix and match between these programmes allowing students to follow the programme which best suits their interests, skills and career aspirations.
Programmes can also include additional courses such as GCSE English and Maths re-sits. There is also the opportunity to be involved in community voluntary work and work experience. The Sixth Form subject blocking arrangements may not allow for every choice combination but our links with the Plym Consortium (a collaboration between Plympton Academy, Coombe Dean, Hele’s School and Plymstock School) and the Plymouth Learning Trust (a service that links schools with training providers) expands that choice.
