To support students accessing remote learning from home a number of Plymouth based businesses are offering their services free of charge.
Borrow Don't Buy are offering parents who have limited IT access at home for students to engage in remote learning the ability to borrow a device such as a laptop. Requests for devices can be made through their website. https://geo.borrowdontbuy.co.uk/
The Tech Outlet are offering free tech support and advice, for IT lockdown issues such as PC speed up, virus removal restores etc. https://www.theioutlet.com
The Department for Education (DfE) has launched a scheme to enable students to access the internet to undertake remote learning. We are able to apply on your behalf for mobile phone data increase through their scheme. I've included details below which explains the scheme, and appreciate it if you could read the terms and conditions which include the information the DfE requires and will share with the mobile provider networks.
If your son/daughter has difficulty accessing the internet at home to engage in our remote learning, would like us to apply for additional mobile data, and accept the terms of the application can you please email Mr McCormack (firstname.lastname@example.org) the information below. The number of applications is limited by each network so a quick response is advisable.

Collection of GCSE/BTEC certificates
At this time, during the national lockdown, certificates will not be released to students. They will be held securely on site until the lock down ends when a clear process will be communicated to you.

Track and trace over the Christmas period
If your child develops symptoms and returns a positive Covid-19 test, within 48 hours of school ending, (Friday/Saturday 18/19th December) please contact the Academy on email@example.com in order to support an accurate track and trace process. This email will be monitored for a period of six days from the end of school (up to Wednesday 23rd December). Please do not phone the Academy: the phone lines are not being manned and your call will not be returned until the start of the new term. If your child develops symptoms and returns a positive test later than 48 hours after the end of school, the Academy should not be contacted. Parents and carers should follow contact tracing instructions provided by NHS Test and Trace.
Plympton Academy continues to follow the guidance set out by the Government, Public Health England and Department for Education (DfE). The Academy has worked diligently to prepare for the return of our students and full details of the arrangements have been communicated to parents and carers.

Y11 and Y10 Information Evenings Cancelled
In light of yesterday's government announcement that social gatherings will be limited to six people from the 14th September, we have taken the decision to cancel the information evenings for Year 11 and Year 10, this week and next. I do appreciate this is late notice but I am sure you appreciate the swiftness with which we need to respond to new guidelines. There will be a video sent to all parents and students with the information on from these evenings. Thank you for your support and cooperation.
