UCAS

The majority of students from Year 13 decide to pursue higher education when they have complete their Sixth Form studies.

For 2023-2024 Year 13s, we have the following deadlines in place:

  • For students applying to Oxbridge, Medicine or Dentistry - Personal Statements and Applications to Mr Doyle by the 23rd September.

  • For students applying to other courses, the school deadline is 9th November, including their full personal statement.

These deadlines allow us to ensure that all references are completed and that applications are finalised in advance of the UCAS deadlines.

We dedicate a large proportion of our tutor sessions to navigating the UCAS process.  We recognise that for some of our students they may be the first in their family to attend university, and so we also invite parents to discuss the UCAS process with us.  Parents can find further support from UCAS here.

As students start to consider which university they might like to attend, they can make use of their Unifrog account but also The Uniguide.  They should consider the entry requirements of courses which are often listed as UCAS points which link directly to grades.  UCAS have provided a tariff calculator to help with this - students need to ensure they input the correct course type, particularly for BTECs.  Students should discuss the grade prediction teachers will use on their UCAS reference when making their university selection to ensure it is appropriate for them.

Further support on how to write personal statements can be found here.
