Based on the book, music and lyrics by Jim Jacobs and Warren Casey, Grease is a rock’n’roll celebration of the trials and tribulations of teenage life in the 1950’s.
The memorable production ran from the 15th January – 19th January. It not only showcased the outstanding talent within Plympton Academy, but also brought the community together.
From electrifying performances to an amazing set design, featuring a cast, live band and technical crew of more than 80 pupils in years 7 to 13, who embraced their roles demonstrating unparalleled dedication, passion and talent.
All cast members immersed themselves in their roles, transporting the audience back to the 50’s. From T-Birds to the Pink Ladies, each character was brought to life with flair and authenticity.
The Plympton Performing Arts Facility went above and beyond to create an impressive experience for the audience with the inclusion of a real car in the production. Plympton Academy purchased the car and with months of preparation modified it to represent the classic Grease T-Bird Ford Thunderbird.
Pupils involved gained valuable skills in time management, team building, self-expression contributing to their personal growth.
Jo Crook, Director of Performing Arts commented: “The success of this production reflects the passion and creativity of our students at Plympton Academy. The countless hours of rehearsals and creative collaboration has paid off, and I am immensely proud and commitment of demonstrated by everyone involved.”
